Virtual reality and now augmented reality have had a few goes at mainstream relevance beyond novelty.

Most recently with Oculus Rift, Playstation's VR gear, HTC's headset and whatever Apple are up to.

With so many people aching to experience any world outside their home, could post pandemic bring new life to a media experience that has promised so much?

Probably not.
