Taylor Rooks, reporter/anchor for SportsNet New York (SNY) joins me for this edition of the Broadcast Journal. She discusses a typical work day at SNY. Her covering Illini football and basketball for Scout.com during college at the University of Illinois. Her passion for sports at any early age and how that led her to wanting to be a sportscaster. Her thoughts on her 1st on-air role as a reporter for the Pre-NIT WWB Championships at 19 years old. Her mentor in the industry and other individuals in the sports broadcasting industry she looks up to. Why she rather interview athletes about themselves rather than the strictly their profession and abilities. How social media has affected her career and how she navigates through it on a daily basis.
