How important is the notion of ‘health and wellbeing’ in schools?

Should schools simply 'stay in their lanes' and avoid this topic altogether? Or should they play a pivotal role in the lives of learners in how they develop their health and wellbeing? And if you agree with the latter point, then to what extent should teachers be responsible for the health and wellbeing of their students? And when is it better to defer this responsibility to a health professional or to the child’s parents and carers? What about teachers? Surely, after the pandemic and a major teacher shortage across many countries teacher wellbeing is a top priority. What is being done about that?

In this podcast, I cover these questions and more with my guest Associate Professor Jon Quach who has spent the best part of 15 years researching at the nexus of health and education. Jon's academic bio can be found here.
