Podcast Tips for Guest and Host
Manage episode 349740542 series 2993761
Podcasting has become one of the most effective branding tools available. Here is what you can do to avoid being a podcast abuser:
Podcasting can make people act out of character, do and say things they wouldn’t normally do or say, and generally forget how to communicate. Remember the primary function of a podcast: to share valuable ideas and explore the problems people are desperate to solve.
In order to produce a podcast worth listening to, there are a few universal rules. Here are just a couple:
Don’t be rude. You would be shocked at some of my stories! Remember that as a guest, the podcast host is granting you access to a platform they have built with extraordinary effort and attention to detail. Any podcast host will tell you that hosting a podcast well is hard work and that being invited is a privilege. A host is not required to publish their episode with you if the content is irrelevant or the audio is poor quality.
Secondly, do not ask for editorial rights to a podcast as a guest. Even if you think you are doing the host a favor by taking editing off their hands, you are making their job more difficult.
