In this episode Niamh chats with Mary Tighe, co-owner of Doulacare Ireland. Doulacare Ireland provide training to birth & postpartum doulas and also works together with over 40 Independent Doula Contractors who offer birth and postpartum support to families around Ireland.
Mary herself is an experienced birth and postpartum doula, childbirth educator, and breastfeeding counsellor. She trained as a birth doula in 2006 and has since developed a special interest in supporting clients through Pregnancy Loss and VBAC birth. Mary’s dedication to her work has been recognised in her winning Doula of the Year in 2018.
In the episode we cover the challenges and benefits of transitioning from a solo doula to a partnership and a company, the importance of mentoring, to dealing with burnout, perimenopause and bringing in employees.
