When Alan Murray was a little kid he walked up and down his neighborhood in Pittsburgh asking for news updates from all the neighbors. He turned those assembled tidbits about visiting relatives, new pets and little league triumphs into a newsletter he hawked for $.50 cents apiece. That was just the start of a journalism career that would span multiple decades, culminating in his current role as CEO of Fortune Media.
