Orion Minerals lands “exceptional” assays at Okiep Copper Project

Orion Minerals Ltd (ASX:ORN) managing director and CEO Errol Smart joins Jonathan Jackson in the Proactive studio to discuss the company’s $7.7 million capital raise, upcoming bankable feasibility studies for Prieska Copper-Zinc and Okiep Copper mines and how the company is building on its strong results. ORN has reported further exceptional assay results from diamond drilling at the Flat Mine East section of its Okiep Copper Project (OCP) in the Northern Cape, South Africa. Recent results confirm historical data from drilling by Goldfields of South Africa in the 1990s, supporting geological interpretations for the Okiep Project's mineral resource modelling. The Flat Mine East discovery, which is not visible from the surface, is crucial to Orion's early production plan for the OCP. As the drilling program nears completion, geological interpretations and mineralisation envelopes will be updated, leading to an updated mineral resource estimate. Metallurgical test work will focus on comminution, flotation optimisation, and tailings characterisation to enhance ore extraction and processing efficiency. Further results from Flat Mine South and Flat Mine North are pending, with the company expecting additional high-grade discoveries to strengthen the overall resource estimate for the Okiep Copper Project.
