Summary Dr. Daniel Roman from Noahโs National Geodetic Survey (NGS) discusses the modernization of the National Spatial Reference System (NSRS) to improve accuracy and accessibility of geospatial data. Highlights ๐ The NSRS provides a consistent coordinate system for latitude, longitude, height, and gravity. ๐ Modernizing the NSRS aims to meet modern needs and ensure compatibility with global colleagues. ๐ Access to a consistent and accurate reference system allows for integration of various data sets. ๐ NGS will replace existing datums with new reference frames specific to US states and territories. ๐ Transformation tools will be provided to convert data from the current datum to the new reference frames. ๐ Determine your precision and accuracy requirements to select the appropriate tools and methodologies. ๐ Training videos and data expertise are available to assist with understanding and utilizing the updated NSRS.
