S2 EP1: SADIA AZMAT - THE LOCKDOWN TAPES

Season 2 launches in style as I am joined by the exceptional stand up and podcaster SADIA AZMAT! As I predicted in the trailer for season 2, the conversation is dominated by Convid-19 and the societal, cultural, political and economic impact it is having and could have in future...plus what this could mean for the future of live comedy and the current trend of 'gigging' online.

Its a fascinating chat with one of the most relevant voices currently on the circuit and I can't ABOUT SADIA AZMAT Sadia Azmat is a British Asian Stand-up comedian and writer from East London. In 2011, Sadia performed a short show ‘Please Hold - You’re Being Transferred To A UK Based Asian Representative’, featuring on BBC Front Row. In 2014, she followed this with her short performance ‘I Am Not Malala’ nationwide. In 2018 Sadia launched her critically acclaimed BBC podcast “No Country For Young Women” which has enjoyed global success and consistent reviews from audiences and critics alike including 'Best audio 2018' as featured by Miranda Sawyer for the Observer and Apple's Top picks for 2018. The podcast explores Sadia and her friend discovering their roots and where to call home when your place of birth differs from that of your family. They ask how do you balance your British and ethnic identities? After a strong run the podcast returns for a 3rd series in the next couple of months and you can like, share & subscribe to the podcast right here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p063zy3c/episodes/downloads
