Disclosure: Even though no teacher was ever formally suspended for teaching anything LGTBQIA+ in a classroom because of Section 28. It still created an environment that made it easier for students and teachers alike to be homophobic without consequence - and also teenagers who were in the process of discovering their sexual identity were not supported as much as they are today. It feels like a an alien world now but the law was only retracted in 2003.
