***TW - This episode includes a discussion on fertility issues and miscarriage. Help for this issue can be found here.***
Welcome to Season 3 Episode 8 of Qtr Time, the UK's ultimate netball podcast in partnership with Lovell Netball.
In today's episode, we recap all the games from Round 8/9 of the Netball Super League with our three-word summaries and reveal our Game of the Round and Player of the Round.
Today our interview is on the subject of The Female Athlete, and our guest is none other than the incredible Nat Butler, née Medhurst. In this conversation, we discuss periods, fertility, miscarriage, pregnancy, and post-pregnancy, and hear Nat's personal experience with fertility treatment and returning to elite sport after becoming a mother. We explore period stigma and consideration of athletes' menstrual cycle, egg freezing, contractual security for SSN players who become pregnant, appreciation for the female body, breastfeeding, motherhood and so much more.
We feel this is such an important topic to discuss and hope to encourage more conversation with the netball family around these important issues. The link to the Netball Scoop fertility article we mention can be found here.
When we were researching this topic we found there is just so much to cover so there will be a Part 2 in a few weeks' time with another guest which will cover injuries, nutrition, breast health, and menopause.
We hope you enjoy this one.
