Hello Friends and Fam,

Nothing gets me into the HOLIGAY MOOD like talking about End of Life Planning!!!

This conversation was really enjoyable for me because here we are a couple of Queer Death Workers who are just excited to help others overcome their anxiety about death & dying. That is not everyone's cup of tea, but it was really great to just talk so openly with Caitlin Couture (CAIM PDX) about her own philosophies and pathways into this unusual work. I think one of the greatest take-aways from these conversations for me is getting to hear other people's stories and how they are processing their own loss. Because no matter how different we all are, we all see to have that original loss experience that taught us how to become advocates. As Queer people we really need to make sure that we have our end of life wishes specified, especially our trans folks, who deserve to die with dignity and respect like every other person. These are the kind of things that keep me awake at night.

If you or someone you know needs end of life support please reach out to Caitlin on Instagram as CAIM or PDXDOULAS and tell her I sent you. I know it might sound scary, but honestly, I have learned that my own dreadful death anxiety is a lot less overwhelming now that I have others to talk to about it, and after I was able to state my wishes. It's just one more step towards undoing the burden for yourself and for your family. And don't forget to inquire about Digital Legacy too! There's nothing more stressful hen trying to access your loved one's accounts when you're in grief! Trust me when I say this, after I became widowed, it took me almost 5 years and a lot of breathing exercises to be able to update my entire operating system of my laptop, long story short, don't leave these little details unattended like I did. It is beyond frustrating! And it is totally avoidable!

Lots of love as always!

Thanks for listening and sharing and sending kind words of support. Season One is almost done?! How wild is that! Season 2 is booking up quickly, so if you would like to tell me your story, please reach out to me at QUEER DEATH STORIES on Instagram and say hello!
