Season 2 episode 4 of Hannibal, “Takiawase” focuses on themes of suffering, caregiver abuse, and agency. This episode finds Bella and Jack grappling with her declining health. We discuss Bella’s decision to end her life, Hannibal’s role as the ferryman, and the juxtaposition of this storyline with the killer of the week. Will manipulates his way into Chilton’s good graces in an attempt to recover more hidden memories. We analyze Will’s drug trip down memory lane, debate his confidence in Chilton’s secret-keeping skills, and discuss his realization that Hannibal is both the Chesapeake Ripper and a cannibal. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, and this episode marked the end for one very curious Katz. We wonder why Beverly couldn’t see things clearly without Price and Zeller, discuss the nature of her relationship with Will Graham, and revisit that fateful trip to the basement.

This episode contains full series spoilers.
