Our guest today is Paul Stevens, the CEO of the Mayflower College. We talked about standardization of ATC phraseology, how speaking to non-native English speakers is addressed in the training, the role of empathy in speaking with foreigners, communication tips for native English speakers, when to use plain English in ATC, the effect of stress on communication, what changes in communication between ATCOs and pilots we can expect in the future, and our signature question - what will the next 5 and 50 years bring in terms of communication in ATC?
