On November 25th, 2021, Radi8Radio and the East Asia Committee joined forces in a live podcast event with Dr. Casper Wits. Dr. Casper Wits is a Leiden University professor specialised in East Asian politics and modern history. In this podcast, we discuss the state of democratization in different East Asian countries. We discuss the labor movement in South Korea after the portrayal of economic discontent in cultural products such as Squid Game and Parasite, we discuss the anti-nuclear movement in Japan, and of course, we extensively discuss the protest movements in Hong Kong and Taiwan, as well as democratization in China.
