Rebecca Hoffman helps children and families become the best they can be, by providing them with tools that assist in easing the pain caused by trauma and grief. As the director of the MaineHealth Center for Trauma Resiliency and Innovation, Rebecca has recently needed to lean more heavily upon her expertise. On October 25, 2023, Maine became the latest state to suffer the tragedy of mass gun violence. Rebecca and her team have been called into action to help their fellow Mainers recover from the death and devastation wrought upon the Lewiston community. Rebecca discusses the importance of preventive interventions in the immediate aftermath of traumatic events, as well as evidence-based practices such as trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, in decreasing individual and intergenerational trauma.
