In december 1969, nog voordat Dolle Mina met haar acties begon, legden 30 meisjes vier weken lang de sigarenfabriek Champ Clark te Nieuwe Pekela plat. Zij willen zo een gelijke loonsverhoging als de mannen afdwingen.
In maart 1973 begint er een staking bij de ritssluitingfabriek Optilonfabriek in Winschoten voor gelijke beloning voor mannen en vrouwen. Een staking die de fabriek is ingegaan als eerste vrouwenstaking voor gelijke beloning. Een staking die werd verloren. Het Spoor zond op 24 januari 1987 een documentaire uit over beide stakingen.
