Als chauffeur van een Kübelwagen en in een SS-uniform figureerde hij in een oorlogsfilm, in zijn vrije tijd knutselt hij aan historische militaire voertuigen of probeert hij de Vereniging Onderofficieren Verbindingsdienst nieuw leven in te blazen.
