Johnny Noble
Johnny Noble in 1932

Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s.

Do you know who this fellow is? He’s bandleader Johnny Noble, who, in the 1920s, played a leading role in introducing Hawaiian music to the mainland. You’ll hear just three of his more than 100 recordings in the second segment of this week’s edition of the show. In the first segment we’ll celebrate the birthday of bandleader Dave Harman. In other segments, we’ll hear songs about lanterns, piccolos and ding dongs! There’s lots of great music and interesting information so set aside an hour with your favorite beverage and prepare to be transported back to a different–and we think better–musical era. Click on the player above to listen streaming online and/or download for listening at your convenience.

THANK YOU FOR LISTENING
