Edith Clifford - Sword Swallower

Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t not tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s.

Last week’s playlist email featured a photo of Edith Clifford. This week’s playlist email also has a photograph of Edith Clifford. Not Edith Clifford the vaudeville singer and comedienne, but Edith Clifford the sword swallower, who was billed as Mademoiselle Clifford. The photo above is the real deal and not AI generated. You’ll find out about Mlle. Clifford and hear some rapidly rotating records about swords in the second segment of this week’s show. The first segment of the show features songs about porcelain, but you may be surprised to find out why. In other segments, we’ll celebrate Harold Dellon’s birthday, have a segment of opposites and steadfastly refuse to say “No!” There’s lots of great music and interesting information so set aside an hour with your favorite beverage and prepare to be transported back to a different–and we think better–musical era. Just click the link above to listen streaming online and/or download for listening at your convenience.

THANKS FOR LISTENING! ENJOY THE SHOW!
