I got a small piece of paper with a bullet telling me 'you have to leave, otherwise this will be it for you'.

Doctor Eman Ahmad had been practising medicine in her home city of Basra in Southern Iraq for twenty years, but over time civil unrest and international attacks meant bombing and assassinations became part of daily life. She was given the opportunity by the AMA (Australian Medical Association) to apply to practice in Australia and ultimately take up permanent residency. But it wasn't an easy journey. In this episode of Rare Air, Eman gives an insight into life as an Iraqi during the fall of Saddam's regime and the joys and challenges of a new life in Australia.
