So, it's going into the colder season, and I know in Texas, this is the time that people really prune back their Crape Myrtles almost too much, and they consider pruning back the trees. I would talk to an arborist in your area since there are so many zones in the country, you know, cold, warm zones... I don't know planting that well, but I would talk to an arborist, and I'd go online to find some ideas for what you need to be doing to your trees and your shrubs so that they survive the winter. Now I know in some parts of the country, you have to wrap them in burlap and try to shelter certain plants during the cold season. Now is the time to be prepared for that, as opposed to, "Oh my God, we're having a cold snap tomorrow. We're not ready." It's also time to cover your faucets if you're in the colder areas.
