Anthony Lerro is Rebecca's guest on this episode. Anthony is from Royersford, PA, and went to Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, Maryland. He majored in accounting and played on the ice hockey team. During his junior year, he became to screenwriter. Since that time, he has written six feature-length scripts and a TV pilot. Recently, he was awarded Best First Feature Film for The Ruggieros, which recently premiered at the Malibu Film Festival. He wrote, directed, produced, and edited the film. He also worked as a production assistant on the feature film Annihilation of Self which is currently in post-production. Many from the South Philly area may be familiar with his last name because he is related to the Lerro Candy Company. In 1916, The John Lerro Candy Store was founded by his great-great-grandfather (located on Broad Street.) Anthony wrote a feature film about the life of his great-great-grandfather that he hopes to make one day.
Anthony detailed how he focused on bringing his film to the screen. His determination and support from a close friend bolstered his success. His story is an example is a recipe for success for anyone starting a new endeavor.
