Natasha Thomas, PhD was the other Black woman in my Cohort at Lesley University. We were the women who were trying to get in there and out unscathed with those letters in hand. There were lots of Matrix bullet dodging moments, and lots of revelations as our bodes said “no” to the bullshit and “yes” to the sanctity of lending our love-work in Black only spaces. Six years after we met, we are still dodging death as Black women entering white institutions, but we do it with a keen sense of reality. In this episode, we break it down for ourselves while offering y’all some strategies for finding your wholeness, then laugh our asses off. We tell each other some stories about shit that has happened, we go off as well we should about structures like the non-profit structure, and then laugh our asses off some more before we take off to our self-care as Black women whose dreams work and play are evolving toward seamless. When we sign off, I’m off to the woods and Natasha is off to play with her toddler. Dr. Natasha Thomas is Co-Founder of Black Creative Healing and a Music & Movement Therapist who Works in Transformative Spaces. And she’s a beautiful, seriously aware, brilliant friend. Check out what Natasha is up to at https://www.blackcreativehealing.com/ Nod and shout out y’all to brilliant Black women who are mentioned in this episode: Marisol Norris, PhD, Dr. Crystal Wiley Cene, Representative Lauren Underwood, and Adenike Webb, PhD Don’t forget, Recollect is listener supported, become a monthly sustainer at https://anchor.fm/zelda-lockhart --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/zelda-lockhart/support
