Patience is a key feature if we ever what to do anything new. When we begin something we are going to suck at it. If by chance we don’t, we will eventually learn that there is still room to grow and a lot of it. I am talking with Deana Barnes of @blackandsober and @deanabarnesbeauty about being patient during recovery. Healing is healing and no matter if you are doing it physically or emotionally there are some very key similarities. If you have a scab, and you pick at it the possibility of that injury becoming infected grows, and the healing time of tit grows as well. That is very much like what we experience when healing emotionally as well. If you go out and pick your scabs by revisiting your wounds that will take longer to heal. If you ignore them, meaning you are not keeping your wounds clean, they will become infected and that happens to way too many of us because we don’t have patience. This episode features the idea of being patient as one of the key points to a successful recovery program. Although I don’t relish talking about early recovery it is what has to happen to get too long term recovery and I encourage all of you, even if you are no longer struggling with your traditional DOC to consider where else you might want to add a bit of recover form and continue to grow.

Last week we talked about not existing in a box and not resting on your laurels as you continue to expand. This episode speaks very much to that, the ideas presented here are not just something you do once, but something you do repeatedly in order to continue to expand and push yourself outside of the boxes you find yourself.

Questions to consider and discuss:
Where do you lose our patience? How does that affect your ability to be kind to yourself and your sober journey?
Allowing yourself to be wrong, and continue to love yourself and your journey is difficult. How have you either succeeded or failed at this?
This is a journey, how do you lose sight of that, and what can you do to step back from some idea of a destination and accept where you are today?

These are not for everyone and if you are not ready I will not work with you. It is important that you are ready to step into your own and stop playing a victim cursed by things around you. If you are interested in working together reach out at https://www.martinjon.com/
