Within this transition, we see God declare Himself as the rightful king over Israel and start to understand His plan for bringing redemption to the nation. Elisha replays the Joshua conquest of Canaan, but this time shows mercy over judgment and emphasizes the repercussions of breaking covenant with God. These chapters ask the question, who is the true and rightful king — in Israel, among the nations, and in our own hearts?
