Welcome to the Pining For Pixels podcast! This is my video game variety show podcast, part of the Red Rooster's Gaming Coop network where I talk gaming and gaming culture every week. Each episode will feature a subject or theme that interests me, and I will speak about what is on my mind in the world of video games!
After a very long time I am re-visiting this theme for a ranking episode. Much like last time (episode # 19, the 80's edition) I am looking at a pool of games, made up of all the winners and nominees of my game of the year awards from 1991 - 1999, and picking the top 10 games of that historic decade! An important note is that it is not all just the winners of game of the year, this top 10 is comprised of both winners and previous nominees. How can that be you might ask? Well for each year, each game is going up against only games in its particular year and there can be only 1 game of the year, but when we are looking at the entire decade, something released in one year that was nominated but didn't win, might be a stronger title than a game that won game of the year in another year, and now it has a chance to place higher on list when the time constraints are removed! I hope that explanation makes sense. Tune in to hear what iconic games made the list, and what iconic games were forced into the "honourable mentions" category - there is one in particular that is sure to get some of you irritated!
