Refactored #043: “Fight Fair”

On this episode of Refactored…

  • Chris buys the Luxafor Switch (last week’s pick) and loves it - except for the adhesive.
  • The guys discuss mobile gaming a bit. Frank has some strong words about pay-to-win (and similar business models) and Chris reminisces about Battleheart, stupidly calling it a side scroller.
  • Who are the Rocks on your team? Praise be to the Rocks, for they ARE FRICKIN AWESOME. Not everyone wants to, or should want to, “hustle.”
  • Frank preaches (in a “right on!” way, not like a “ugh wth is this guy even saying, I’m hungy” way) about silently letting your conversation partner finish their thought, even if their premise is erroneous or you think you foresee their conclusion/s.
    • It’s a sign of respect and decency and civility. Moar of this, please.
    • Cutting them off will niggle at their brain like an unresolved melody. Let the song finish.
    • If they’re going long, take notes to revisit points made.
    • In other words, just STFU, dolt. Silence is valuable. In some cases, even financially so.
  • The guys praise the collected works of Michael Schur.
  • Chris recommends wikis for proprietary/tribal terms and lingo.
  • The pick of the week is the C4 Model, a highly practical software architecture diagramming methodology.
  • … and much more!
