Series: Extreme Makeover

Message: Attitude Adjustment

YOUR ATTITUDE AFFECTS:

    Your PERSPECTIVE of life.

“Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference.”

“Watch your attitude. It’s the first thing people notice about you.”

(Romans 12:2)(NLT) Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

    Your APPROACH to life.

“Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.”

“Your attitude determines your direction”

(Ephesians 4:31-32)(NLT) 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. 32 Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.

    Your SUCCESS in life.

“For success, attitude is equally as important as ability.” Walter Scott

“Your attitude determines your altitude.”

(Ephesians 2:10)(NLT) For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

(Proverbs 16:3)(NLT) Commit your actions to the LORD, and your plans will succeed.

    Your UNITY WITH CHRIST.

Unity – n. the state of being united or joined as a whole.

(Philippians 2:5)(NLT)

“You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.”

(Colossians 3:10)(NLT) Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.

(2 Corinthians 5:17)(NIV) Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

A Christ-Like Attitude Is….. (Philippians 2:1-11)

    Fueled by GOD’S LOVE.

(Philippians 2:1a)(NLT) Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love?

    Driven by the HOLY SPIRIT.

(Philippians 2:1b)(NLT) “Any fellowship together in the Spirit?”

    TENDER and COMPASSIONATE.

(Philippians 2:1c)(NLT) “Are your hearts tender and compassionate?”

    Not looking for a FIGHT.

(Philippians 2:2)(NLT) “Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose.”

    UNSELFISH.

(Philippians 2:3a)(NLT) “Don’t be selfish.”

    HUMBLE and CONSIDERATE.

(Philippians 2:3b-4) (NLT) “don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves.4Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.

    TEACHABLE and OBEDIENT.

(Philippians 2:5-11) (NLT) “5You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. 6Though he was God he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to.7Instead, he gave up his divine privileges he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, 8he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.

9Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names,10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,11and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Final Thought:

“The greatest day in your life and mine is when we take total responsibility for our attitudes. That’s the day we truly grow up.
