Trying to find and understand my life's purpose has caused me some unrest over the decades. This has changed a great deal recently. Today, this poem came to mind which, I think, summarizes well:
What is your purpose
Purpose to live
Life here on earth
is there more
What is all of this striving for
Awakened by light
feeling bliss
Swept up in the sea of consciousness
Wanting yearning seeking to find
More more more peace tranquility
Soundness of mind
Letting go
simply sitting silent
To be
Knowing and feeling
embodying free
Freedom from pain agony strife
Freedom from the need to prove
Freedom from the burden of carving out
a specific life
For life carries on without confines
of space and time
Understanding this you'll soon find
purpose comes from the still silent wave
not from your yearning
or something you crave
purpose intended to be
a simple expression
a manifestation
of sitting
