Ian Gutterman is the Founder and CEO of the Informed Group, Inc. Before entering the insurance industry he spent quite some time investing in insurance companies and got to learn about the industry very well through this special position he was in, then fell in love with insurance and decided that this is what he would like to do for the rest of his life 🙂

In his conversation with Nick and Tom he shares:

📎 His professional background and how he came to do what he does today

📎 What issues he sees in typical insurance business models and insurtechbusinessmodels

📎 What advice he would give a CEO of insurance incumbents/tied agents and where is room for improvement in the status quo of the insurance industry

📎 Where he sees the solution for the issues in the insurance industry and an example of how it could look like in the short-term outlook

📎 How to manage and match customer acquisition costs and growth costs and underwriting capacities without putting a “burden” on the policyholders

📎 How and with which arguments to “switch” insurance clients from their long-term commitment to a policy

📎 Why cutting the “middleman” / the trusted advisor out, might or might not be a good solution in the sales process

📎 His perspective as an investor on insurtechs about going public vs. self-funding and some advice for entrepreneurs in the insurance space

📎 Why o investors favour certain business models and not others
