Notice the exclamation marks. This is extremely serious. As serious as it gets. You may or may not have noticed, powerful leaders in the USA and Europe are increasingly beating the drums of war against Russia. This would very likely mean nuclear war, as Russia’s arsenal is greater than America’s and they would not be able to compete in a traditional war. In this episode I do my best to make us remember how beautiful, vital and fragile peace is, and why we must all take a good look in the mirror and ask if we can do more to bring inner peace – this being the fundamental condition for outer peace in the world – and to influence the tide of opinion around us to insisting upon peace among nations. Because America’s pushing for WW3 while pretending to seek peace has naturally seen an increased aggression in Russia’s rhetoric, bringing Earth closer to armageddon than it has been since JFK miraculously resolved the Cuban Missile Crisis back in 1962. We must act. Alongside the Ukraine crisis, we have the crises in Israel-Palestine and potentially Taiwan; these make the need for peace and diplomacy globally all the more urgent to re-establish. Events now have the ability to spiral beyond the point of no return faster than you would find out about it even by Twitter. We absolutely MUST calm things down, if not for our own jaded and often fatalistic selves then for the innocent children who need grownups.

Even if Russia had started the war in Ukraine, nuclear apocalypse would not be justified. Two wrongs don’t make a right, and deleting civilisation only serves injustice to everyone. Even then, if Russia were to blame, diplomacy and compromise would be the answer. But I here explain in detail why in fact it was the USA who began the war; we could say either in 2014 with their overthrow of Ukraine’s democratically elected government, or after the fall of the Berlin Wall, when NATO promised not to move one inch eastward – a promise they then broke, time and again, doing all they could to make Russia into an ‘other’ and enemy. We citizens of the West must have empathy and the ability to question our own narratives in service to peace, and above all we must find the peace and forgiveness within to cool our emotions and reconnect to reason, to love, to humanity – and then act in whatever way we can to steer the course of history away from the rocks of collective psychosis, to love’s light. Meditate. Educate yourself on the conflict (RFK Jr.’s podcast has several episodes on this, as does Dave Smith’s “Part of the Problem” podcast) and share this with everyone you can, from friends and family to colleagues and strangers who might happen to mention Russia. Call or write your democratic representatives and the unelected bureaucrats. Email local journalists and ask them to write stories advocating peace and/or exposing the true history of the Ukraine conflict. Anything you can do, please do it now. Our children thank you.
