Ocean plastic pollution poses a grave ecological threat, imperiling marine life and ecosystems. An estimated 8 million tons of plastic enter the oceans annually, enduring for centuries and disintegrating into microplastics that pervade the food chain. Seabirds, turtles, and marine mammals ingest or become entangled in plastic debris, suffering injury or death.
