In this episode of Rethreading Lives, Kristin sits down with Chris Shee, the CEO of Mastercraft Builders. Among other topics, Chris explains his philosophy toward money, which starts with a healthy disconnection from material things.

After imagining losing everything he owns, Chris realized the critical difference between wealth and riches. Even if he were to lose “everything,” he would still be wealthy. His relationships with his family and friends, and the life they have built together, is infinitely more valuable than anything he owns. This epiphany created a new vision for how Chris wanted to live and affect the community around him.
From that place of contentment, Chris learned to be extremely generous. He gives uncomfortably, enjoying the freedom of “handing over what other people spend their lives chasing.” While that looks different for every person, the core idea is the same: we find true wealth when we learn that it isn’t material. It is a redefining of our purpose in this life.
Listen to the full podcast to hear more from Chris about giving, mental health, legacy, joy, and the fascinating life story of a local leader in business and in charity.
