Episode 21: Walking the Firewalk of Life with Dave Albin

Life often feels like a tough challenge, much like walking barefoot on burning coals. It's scary and difficult. Imagine someone, filled with fear and doubt, standing by a bed of hot coals, too afraid to take that first step. But as they watch others confidently walk the fiery path, something incredible happens. They start to believe in their own strength and decide to take that bold step.

In this episode, we sit down with Dave Albin, the world's #1 Firewalk Expert, to share his personal story of being adopted at a young age and later discovering that his adoptive parents were not his biological parents. Dave describes how he became an alcoholic from the first moment he had a drink. He also talked about his introduction to drugs in junior high school and getting kicked out of high school. Dave shares his early entrepreneurial experiences, including selling flowers and golf balls. He then discusses their troubled marriages and living situations before reaching a breaking point and contemplating suicide. Dave decides to call Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) for help, is picked up by a member named Lauren, and attends multiple AA meetings on their first day.

Dave talks about receiving chips to mark his progress and finding motivation through Tony Robbins' personal power program. He attends a Tony Robbins event with a friend, including a firewalk activity that initially scares him but eventually faces his fears and watches people firewalk. He eventually walked on the coals himself and felt empowered. As a result, he became involved in volunteering at Tony Robbins events and found purpose in helping others. Despite facing opposition from his wife, he continued to pursue this path.

Dave also talks about setting a world record for firewalking and being approached by Google to put on an event for their executives. He explains why companies turn to firewalking as a team-building activity and the transformative power it holds.
