Buy the shoes, if not for your love of fashion, for the sanctity of shoes! This is advice worth spreading from spiritual mentor, fashion executive, and author, Tobi Rubinstein. It is the fusion of spirituality, fashion, and other creative outlets that drives Tobi ‘s work.
On this episode of Ritch in Life, Tobi opens up about her fight with cancer, her journey to becoming a Rabbi, and tells stories from her newly released book The House of Faith and Fashion: What My Wardrobe Taught Me About G-D. Ritch does not stray away from the discomfort of the hard hitting questions related to identity politics, faith, and relationships in this candid conversation with Tobi.
Tobi began her esteemed career in fashion being recruited by an exclusive manufacturer for Victoria's Secret and JC Penney. She then moved on to partnering with Nicole Miller for children's wear and developing Crunch Gym's activewear line. In 2001, Tobi and her partners created Chedda, an innovative men’s urban brand specifically designed for mass market giant K-Mart. In 2009, The House of Faith and Fashion was her step into reality TV and a successful lecture and radio series. What began as a weekly column for a local newspaper has now flourished into a book that drops at the end of April 2021.
