Australia has recorded its first human case of the highly pathogenic strain of bird flu - H5N1 - in a child who returned home in March from overseas.

The child has fully recovered, and health officials stress there is no evidence of - or ongoing risk - of transmission to other humans. But just how vulnerable is Australia as strains of the virus spread globally?
