Recent research showed that social media is fuelling significant anxiety in one quarter of women aged 18-24 about their genital appearance, and that is being blamed for a dramatic rise in rates of labiaplasty surgeries being performed across Australia.
But an expert warns that those doing the labiaplasty procedures are often not qualified, performing them under local anaesthetic and can leave patients disfigured and suffering medical and psychological complications.
