NRDC tells us “Good tax policies to boost wind and solar projects are creating NE jobs, growing our economy and providing climate and public health benefits. This analysis makes a clear and compelling case to build on this progress to achieve even stronger more persistent job gains and economic growth. The time is ripe to further accelerate our urgently needed transition to a new carbon economy.” So, if we see these compelling cases building, why are we starting to scale back tax credits? Does it then make sense to re-embrace coal and fossil fuel? Will the jobs shift back to mining areas and heavy exporters of oil and gas? As you will hear today, the short answer is no- no to rewinding good public policy. No to slowing down job growth. No to a return to old technology. No to bad public health if we continue to depend on fossil fuel. Our conversation with today’s guest, Kevin Steinberger, NRDC’s Climate and Clean Air Projects, spans the globe. In this segment, we compare notes on why renewables work in the US, or don’t, China, India, and more, and why we need to make it work. Make it work, ideally, locally and regionally. There is a role for business to play in this migration from traditional fuels. There is a role for states to play. And, there is role for you to play. What is that? Listen in and find out.
