According to fleet executives, as well as maintenance managers, the death of the internal combustion engine may have been greatly exaggerated in spite of the excitement about electric powertrains. In fact, a panel in the House recently approved a bill that would block efforts meant to prevent the sale of internal combustion engines. We wonder though, how long until sustainability goals challenge the predominance of internal combustion engines? What solutions are being explored to make diesel engines more efficient and compatible with alternative fuels? And, how can fleets prepare for a potential future with an entirely new driving force?
