A comienzos de la década de los años 70 una serie de artistas decidieron rebelarse contra el orden establecido desde Nashville, cuyas producciones venían marcando el sonido de la música country en busca de su forma más comercial. Aquellos forajidos exigieron libertad para crear, para producir sus propios discos, para encontrar su propio estilo y para cantar sobre lo que ellos quisieran. Las raíces del outlaw country las encontramos en otros subestilos previos como el honky tonk, el rockabilly, la música de camioneros o el sonido de Bakersfield, con gran influencia del folk rock del momento. Recordamos en este episodio algunas de sus figuras y canciones más emblemáticas.
