Elmar erlitt im Juli 2010 einen Herzstillstand und konnte gerade noch rechtzeitig reanimiert werden. Da sich sein Gesundheitszustand fortan verschlechterte, kam nur noch eine Herztransplantation in Frage. Er bekam im Juni 2012 ein Spenderherz und kämpfte sich zurück ins Leben. Auch sportlich knüpfte er wieder an die alten Erfolge an, mit einem neuen Herz.. Eine eindrucksvolle Geschichte eines Sportlers, die auch zum Nachdenken anregt. Schaut vorbei bei www.elmarsprink.de
