This is Derek Miller, Speaking on Business. As it celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2024, ARUP Laboratories remains one of Utah’s largest and fastest-growing life sciences companies. CEO Andy Theurer joins us with more. Andy Theurer: Forty years ago, a group of University of Utah pathologists acted on a dream to create a clinical laboratory that offers complex testing to hospitals throughout the region. Never could they have imagined that we’d become one of the nation’s four largest reference laboratories, with a menu of over 3,000 tests and clients in every state. Today, ARUP, a nonprofit enterprise of the U, employs nearly 5,000 people and tests up to 100,000 specimens per day. We offer advanced tests in genetics, immunology, infectious disease, toxicology, and more. Our Institute for Research and Innovation in Diagnostics and Precision Medicine™ leads the way in the development of digital pathology, artificial intelligence-enabled diagnostic solutions, and other advanced tests to improve patient care. Having survived the test of time, ARUP is thriving. We anticipate many more years as a key contributor to Utah’s economy. Learn more at aruplab.com. Derek Miller: In addition to providing a vital healthcare service, ARUP is a perennial recipient of the Utah Business Best Companies to Work For Award for its commitment to work-life balance and excellent benefits—including an onsite daycare center and a free health clinic for employees. I’m Derek Miller with the Salt Lake Chamber, Speaking on Business. Originally aired 3/29/24
