Today I tell the story of Rick Ankiel who was a pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals and who rocketed to stardom in 2000. But he fell into baseball ruin nearly as fast as he rose to stardom developing control problems and falling apart in the playoffs of that year.

Ankiel had years of injuries and attempts to solve his control problems before he gave up on his lifelong ambition of being a pitcher and decided to become an outfielder.

In 2007 he torched the minor leagues hitting 32 home runs by August and was called up to the majors where he spent the next seven seasons as an outfielder, having a fine career.

So if you are stuck in a rut or failing over and over at something you know isn’t right for you, have the courage to change your course and start something new.
