100 years Schneeberger Linear Technology

SCHNEEBERGER Linear Technology is currently presenting a world first to the market. The new SCHNEEBERGER absolute measuring system (SAM) is a further digital step for linear guides (Industry 4.0). Guiding and measuring are integrated in one system solution.

The SAM is thus currently the smallest absolute measuring system integrated into the MINIRAIL miniature guides. The unique SCHNEEBERGER absolute measuring system (SAM) is a further digital step for linear guides into Industry 4.0. Guiding and measuring as an integrated system solution as well as the plug & play functions open up new digital applications and solutions for the manufacturing industry. 3 of 5 possible interfaces can be used simultaneously (BiSS/SSI, ABZ, UVW, SPI, analogue Sin/Cos). The calibrated parameter values are stored in the sensor's internal EEPROM so that the carriage can reliably find its last position. In addition, the scale is lasered directly onto the guide rail, giving the user a quick overview. With >2 µm (3-sigma), it is extremely accurate in terms of position and reliably secures the process. SAM is currently the smallest integrated absolute measuring system and available in the smallest linear miniature guide MINIRAIL. The sensor is 9.9 x 5.0 x 1.1 mm small. With SAM, guiding and measuring as an integrated system solution in the smallest installation space takes on a new, enormously compact dimension. With MINIRAIL and MINISCALE PLUS, the highest accuracies can be achieved even in the smallest spaces.

SCHNEEBERGER group is an internationally active industrial group active in the fields of linear technology, drive technology and mineral casting. Linear technology is a technical sub-discipline of drive technology. It deals with mechanical components or mechatronic systems for carrying out translational movements. Linear technology is often used in automation, production, machine tools or industrial machines, medical technology, measurement technology and many other industries that require very fast, compact and at the same time extremely precise positioning. If you would also like to know more about linear technology and the many possible applications, or how to take the automation and positioning of your systems to a new level, why not subscribe to our podcast?
