During a recent effort to audit and clean-out some contents of my iMac storage; I stumbled upon an especially non-specific, innocuously titled mix, 'Friday Night Mix (10th May, 2013)'. I'd speculate that this mix was unlikely the subject of any sort of meticulous planning, nor prepared with any sort of intention of public distribution wider than my living room. Whatever the case, I have absolutely zero recollection of it, and it was probably nothing more adventurous nor significant than me deciding to throw on a few tunes at the end of a working week over a couple of quiet beers, and deciding to press record in doing so. So, more than seven years later, I throw it on... what the hell? As self-indulgent as it may seem; in listening to this mix for the (second) first time; I'm transported back to simpler times of yesteryear and reminded of some wonderful music circulating during that period—some of which hasn't received much of a look from me in some time. The result? It's a melodic almost-hour-long selection of tunes likely an object of my affection at the time. It's (admittedly) a bit rough, but it's honest. I enjoyed it. Hope you might, too. Hope you're otherwise well and keeping your heads above water during this wild time of our loves we call 2020. Much love! x
