The Vodafone Foundation announced the launch of in-person digital skills training classes for over 65s across Digital Hubs and Broadband Connection Points (BCPs) in 26 counties. Vodafone have an investment of over €2 million euro in the Hi Digital 360° digital literacy upskilling platform, with more than 26,273 sessions already completed by older people online. At the launch a number of older people Gary Cooke was brought through the Hi Digital platform to showcase how these classes are being rolled out throughout Ireland Gary took the opportunity to see how the classes are run and spoke to the participants on their experiences, he also spoke to Liz Roche, Head of Vodafone Foundation and Maureen Kavanagh CEO of Active Retirement Ireland all about Hi Digital . About Hi Digital: Vodafone Ireland Foundation recently announced a new strategic partnerships with charities ALONE and Active Retirement Ireland to deliver a five-year dedicated, nationwide digital skills training programme called ‘Hi Digital’ for people over the age of 65. This is a first of its kind in Ireland, and the programme has been created to support older people who lack digital skills, through online and in person training. Topics include: everything from understanding Smartphone features and essential online skills that help enhance daily life; Keeping in touch through WhatsApp and social media, planning trips; researching interests and hobbies; online shopping, entertainment and banking, as well as educating on online safety.
