世界上第一張商業化聖誕卡，是在維多利亞時代1843年推出，由英國爵士亨利‧高爾(Henry Cole)發明及印製。當時的英國人每逢聖誕節、新年，朋友之間會互發賀卡，不回信是很無禮貌。相傳高爾交遊廣闊，收到太多信件未覆，就想到印製大眾化賀卡。他委託畫家朋友約翰‧霍斯利(John Callcott Horsley)設計插圖，中間描繪了一家人圍著餐桌喝酒慶祝節日的場景，並寫上「祝你聖誕快樂、新年快樂」的賀詞，兩邊是幫助窮人的配畫。圖畫印在約12厘米長，約8厘米闊的硬卡片上，只要寫齊上下款就可以寄出。 ...
