Steve Inskeep, NPR host, discusses his new book "Imperfect Union," that tells the story of America's first political power couple, John and Jessie Fremont. In 1856 John was the first ever Republican nominee for president and the campaign was dominated by immigration, race, and political demagoguery. Inskeep reflects on the parallels with today's politics. Sarah Hurwitz, White House speechwriter for President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, has turned her focus from politics to Judaism in her book "Here All Along."
