On June 7, 1494 and later on April 29, 1529 Portugal and Spain divided up the world between them in declaring their sovereignty as the Holy Roman Empire. Meanwhile, other European powers were declaring their own sovereignty under what was called the Protestant Reformation. But the concept of ‘Sovereignty’ has taken on new significance lately and there is major competition for which national sovereignty will hold global dominance. What it says to us is that the Protestant Reformation now celebrating its 500th Year hardly produced substantive change to pursuits of global domination… so the moment has brought us to our theme for the day of “A Time for a REAL Reformation.” (10/29/2017)
